Take a Break (for Mac)

There’s a sensor that lets apps read the angle of your MacBook’s lid.
Take a Break uses that info in a playful way to help you actually step away: lower the lid and the break starts; pop it open and the break pauses.

What it does

• Status bar timer — Countdown next to a steaming cup ☕
• Full-screen overlay — When work’s up, an app-wide overlay reminds you it’s break time
• Hinge-aware breaks — Break timer starts only when your lid is lowered
• Configurable durations — Set your own focus + break lengths
• Postpone & Skip — Push a break by 5 minutes or skip it if you must
• 5-minute heads-up — Optional local notification: “Break in 5 minutes”
• Break end sounds — Pick from 6 built-in chimes to notify you of the end of your break
• Launch at login — Toggle on/off from Settings
• Dock icon toggle — Keep it minimal if you like

Requirements

macOS 13+ (Ventura or newer). Works best on MacBooks with a lid-angle sensor (most modern models).
